Building Homes out of Concrete
Homes built out of concrete are starting to get noticed by the public--and that's good news for concrete pumpers. With the damage of this past hurricane season, more and more people are looking into insulating concrete forms (ICFs) for home building.
ICF homes are considered by many to be more resistant to natural disaster, more energy efficent, and faster to build. Though these benefits are debated by some, it's clear that ICF homes are becoming more popular--which means more opportunities to pour.
Recent media reports have featured the home of a Rhode Island family which believes that ICFs are the only way to build, touting their home's ability to withstand winds of up to 300mph. You can read more about his home here and see some pictures here.
Hoping to utilize ICFs resistance to winds, companies experienced with this type of building are opening offices in the Southeast with hopes of providing safer homes and buildings for residents of the area.
