ACPA Spring Board Meeting Slideshow

As usual, the ACPA Spring Board meeting was held at a fantastic venue with great food and entertainment. More importantly, however, a lot of great work was done. Your ACPA works very hard to improve the concrete pumping industry in ways that help all concrete pumping companies in North America, and increasingly, the world.
We came away from the meetings impressed with the way the ACPA spearheads and organizes the handling of major issues which the average concrete pumping company might not have the knowledge, time or resources to contend with. A couple of the biggest issues they're working on to help you is the ongoing pursuit of a fuel-tax exemption for off-road fuel use, and the fight against a new threat to the industry, a Federal Excise Tax on concrete pump chassis. You can read more about this on page 65 of the Spring Issue of Concrete Pumping Magazine.
The ACPA is an important part of the concrete pumping community -- it's working to save you money, make you safer, and get you more work. Concrete pumpers of all sizes should join and support the ACPA -- they are working hard for you!

Canada is Cool: Concrete Pump SIMULATOR!
The Operating Engineers Training Institute of Ontario has installed a new "state-of-the-art" concrete pump simulator. From the article:
...the machine is a three-metre-tall, dome-shaped structure.
The operator can stand in the middle of the machine and use controls to conduct simulated pouring and other exercises in a virtual environment.
Mike Gallagher, business manager of Local 793 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, said the simulator is a valuable training tool for concrete-pump instructors at the OETIO.
"The simulator will enable apprentices to get a feel for operating these machines in a safe and controlled environment," he said. "Concrete pumps are getting bigger and more dangerous to operate. We want to make sure that the operators are properly trained to operate these machines."
The simulator is modelled after a Schwing 32-metre-boom concrete pump.

L. Guerini Group: Innovative.

As DispatchThis customers, we should have known that L. Guerini Group is a company interested in leveraging new technologies for increased efficiency and improved customer service.
Guerini was recently featured in New England Construction for their use of a Putzmeister Telebelt TB 110 conveyor.
From the article:
Luigi Guerini founded this business in 1917 as a construction trucking company. In the late '40s, Luigi introduced the first hydraulic backhoe to the Boston area, thus expanding the business to include excavating. In 1965, the second generation, Andrew and Richard Guerini, were ready to expand the business by acquiring mobile hydraulic cranes. In 1969, the brothers ventured into an industry still in its infancy by purchasing their first concrete pump. With the partners' persistence and personal service, the business grew.
And the rest is history as today, the third generation — Andy Guerini Jr., Lou Guerini, Joe Guerini, and Bob Magliozzi — carries on the family trait of keeping pace with the newest trends in construction equipment technology. The latest introduction of the Putzmeister Telebelt Line to New England has continued their position as industry innovators.
The article continues to describe the ways they've been able to leverage some of the features and benefits of the Telebelt TB 110. Click here to read the rest of the article.
